WILLLIAMSBURG — Tabitha Sewer Studio celebrated its new location with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 27, and a line of customers wrapped around the building to see the new space and join in the festivities.

Owner Tabitha Sewer is a veteran sewing influencer and undergraduate business professor who began blogging after over ten years in the U.S. Air Force. She grew up around sewing thanks to her mother, who went to fashion school in the Philippines. Sewer would watch her mother make dresses and other clothes for family and local celebrities.

The original studio opened in 2023. The new location, between the Banana Republic and Turn the Page Bookshop at the Williamsburg Premium Outlets, includes the Maker Lab, offering crafts in addition to sewing. According to the studio, the Maker Lab is for any family that needs something to do during the summertime, or on rainy days when parents want to get kids out of the house and change things up.

“[Sewer] has an amazing business that I can’t wait for you to see, I just want to stay here all day with her,” said Terry Banez, CEO of the Greater Williamsburg Chamber of Commerce. “If you’re a crafter or you have a crafter’s heart, this is the place for you to be. The greater Williamsburg area is so lucky to have Tabitha here.”

In addition to the ribbon cutting, Sewer was also presented with the 2025 Emerging Business of the Year Award by the Greater Williamsburg Chamber of Commerce.

After the ceremony, attendees were invited inside to enjoy festivities that included raffle giveaways and refreshments, including a lemonade station.
