JAMES CITY COUNTY — GuernseyTingle, one of the largest architectural firms on the Virginia Peninsula, announced that it has completed a major expansion and renovation of its main office in James City County.

For the past 37 years, GuernseyTingle has provided full design services including architecture, interiors and planning for clients across the country. It currently employs 28 people across the region and expects to grow further over the next year.

The company moved forward with its expansion plans amid the pandemic in order to facilitate in-person office interaction and promote collaboration.

“Technology and flexible work policies have worked well during the pandemic, but we continue to believe that our clients and our colleagues are best served when we come together and create in a well-designed office,” Thomas G. Tingle, president of GuernseyTingle, said. “The expansion of our main office is a key part of our strategic growth, and we look forward to making the Williamsburg area our home base for many more years.”

The firm’s newly expanded office occupies the entire first floor of The Design Center at New Town, 5342 Discovery Park Blvd, totaling over 6,500 square feet.

The new expansion features larger open areas and it double the number of break-out workspaces, which allows for team members to safely socially distance during group work sessions.

Working with Henderson Inc., the on-site construction period took six weeks, ahead of the original anticipated schedule, according to GuernseyTingle.
