Two Popular Events Coming to Riverwalk Landing in May

YORKTOWN — Add a little flavor and culture to your schedule the first weekend in May —Historic Yorktown is hosting back-to-back popular events on May 6 and 7 at Riverwalk Landing.

Blues, Brews & BBQ will happen on Saturday, May 6 from noon until 6 p.m. Attendees can sample dozens of craft beers, dig into some amazing barbecue (available for purchase) and listen to some of the area’s best blues musicians on the waterfront Riverwalk Landing stage.

The performing bands include the HM Johnson Band at 12:30 p.m. and The Jason Cale Band at 3:30 p.m.

Currently, 19 breweries are scheduled to participate, along with a wine tent that will offer tastings, all included with admission. Sample French, German and other wine favorites.

This is a closed, ticket-only event and is not recommended for children or pets. Early Bird tickets are $35 in advance (now through April 15), $40 after, and at the door (if still available). A limited number of non-drinking tickets are available for $15.

Sunday, May 7, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., the public is invited to Riverwalk Landing to marvel at the handiwork of more than 40 local artists at the 10th Annual Art at the River Juried Art Show.

Painters, photographers, potters, jewelers and other creative artists will line the Riverwalk to display their work with hopes of taking home the People’s Choice Award.

The Fifes and Drums of York Town open the show with a special performance at 10 a.m., followed by live entertainment by Audio Portrait from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Free parking is available at the Riverwalk Landing parking terrace for both events. Visitors may also park at York Hall, York-Poquoson Courthouse, County Administration Building and other designated public parking lots. The free Yorktown Trolley runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. with several convenient stops throughout town.
