
HISTORIC TRIANGLE — It’s no surprise that our region loves dogs.
Maybe it’s the colloquial name for Duke of Gloucester (“DoG”) Street or maybe it’s the abundant amount of walking trails and nature parks. Whatever the reason, there is no shortage of places that love dogs.
Here’s a roundup of all the pupper-themed restaurants and places around the Triangle.
The Hound’s Tale
Located at 515 Prince George Street, this bistro features entrees from Executive Chef Steven Sowell. If you’re looking for treats or gifts for a friend or your pet, the Corner Barkey, located just down the street at 200 Prince George Street. The Barkery is open 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. The Hound’s Tale runs from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday, 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays. Visit their website here for more information.

DoG Street Pub
This gastro pub on the beloved Duke of Gloucester street is situated in a former bank. Opened in 2012, DoG Street Pub occasionally features local pups in its “Dog of the Week” on social media. Current hours are 11:30 to 4 p.m., Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday, and 11:30 to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday. To look at the menu, click here.

Toby’s Dog House
Who doesn’t relish a good hot dog pun. Every menu item at Toby’s Dog House features the name of a dog breed or phrase. Located at 1782 Jamestown Road, this hot dog joint is open from 11 a.m to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.

Gangsta Dog
Sometimes food isn’t always about the human, but more about the dog. Gangsta Dog offers specialized dog treats that are made from in-house recipes. The Hughes family officially opened Gangsta Dog earlier this year in April, and they also teamed up with Toby’s Dog House to create a satellite store for dog accessories.Located at 319 Water St. in Yorktown, Gangsta Dog is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Barking Dog
Located at 464b Wythe Creek Rd, The Barking Dog’s menu has everything from signature hot dogs to sandwiches and tacos. Business hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays. Click here to view their menu.
