WILLIAMSBURG — After being closed since December, Toby’s Dog House, the dog-themed hot dog joint at 1782 Jamestown Road, announced that it’s reopening its doors.

And this time, the restaurant is adding a fun surprise for its patrons.

Glenn Helseth, owner of Toby’s Dog House and Carrot Tree Kitchens, reached out to Gary Hughes, owner of Gangsta Dog, situated locally at 319 Water St. in Yorktown, to collaborate on a satellite store.

“We realized that we needed more than just a dog house. People would see the sign and think we’re a dog boutique,” Helseth said.

When Gangsta Dog opened its doors last month, Helseth knew that he found the perfect business to team up with in order to create the ultimate dog and dog lover hangout.

Gangsta Dog will provide their own handcrafted dog biscuits, all made with ingredients that even humans can eat, along with some fun, hot-dog themed dog toys and accessories.

“When Glenn reached out to me, it inspired me to start looking around the historic Williamsburg area and see about potentially opening up a store there, too,” Hughes said.

There will also be special treats in store for humans as well. Helseth said that he’s also entertaining some additional hot dogs and toppings.

Toby’s Dog House is reopening this Saturday, May 15. The restaurant’s hours are from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays. To view their menu, click here.
