EDGE DISTRICT — Shoofly Dairy Bar, 7127 Merrimac Trail, and Column 15, 701 R, Merrimac Trail, have teamed up for a coffee collaboration.
The two Edge District businesses are both offering creations using Shoofly’s soft serve ice cream and Column 15’s coffee.
The idea for the collaboration came about when Shoofly’s owner, Beth Hertzler, came into Column 15, a local coffee business that specializes in nitro cold brew coffees and tea.
“Beth from Shoofly came into our shop to get one of our Chocolate Creme Nitro Cold Brew Lattes and thought it would go great as a base for a milkshake,” Brittany Wyatt, Column 15’s Director of Wholesale Operations and Logistics, said.
Shoofly is offering a “Cold Brew Milkshake,” which features Column 15’s Nitro brew coffee.
Since opening in 2017, Shoofly has been a Williamsburg staple for local ice cream.
The shop is dedicated to serving all-natural, healthy ice cream and desserts.
Column 15’s new Nitro Brew Float allows customers to add a scoop of Shoofly’s vanilla or chocolate ice cream to any of the coffee shop’s Nitro Creme latte specialty recipes.
They can also customize their own float by mixing and matching Column 15’s variety of flavors.
“It felt like a perfect way to substitute the coffee ice ball for something sweeter and add our special twist on a classic summer favorite – the root beer float,” Wyatt said.
Column 15 opened their permanent location in the Edge District back in May, and has quickly become a hot spot for locals, bringing craft coffee and beverages to Williamsburg.
Wyatt said that being able to team up with Shoofly, a fellow Edge District business, has been a great way to connect with the community.
“I grew up on this ice cream,” Wyatt said. “Being part of the Edge District allows us to align ourselves with the long-time staples that are close by, creating a synergy that promotes growth for our community.”
