Human foosball, beers, food — now that sounds like a party. And hey, it’s for a good cause

The Precarious Beer Project wants to bring its patrons back to middle school for an afternoon to relieve the most exciting day of the school year: field day.

The inaugural Field Dayz Fest is Dec. 1 on the lawns of Colonial Williamsburg’s Art Museum, according to a news release from event host Precarious Beer Project, the brewery wing of Amber Ox Publix House.

Guests can enjoy craft beer, food, and live music as they play field games reminiscent of field day or gym class, including tetherball and foursquare. A few more games are being kept secret, the news release indicated.

Precarious owner Andrew Voss said guests can enter a team tournament of human foosball. Taking place in an adult-size bounce house, players will strap in alongside their teammates and play foosball as if they’re on a giant, bouncy foosball table.

There will also be a singles tournament for tetherball. All proceeds from both tournaments will be donated to Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters.

“This is a cool opportunity for people to actively engage in an event,” Voss said. “The activity level of these games is going to be very minimal. We’re not interested in creating this super intense series of games, where you mix sample pours of 30 beers and get out and do hard activity. This is just for fun more than anything.”

Twenty-five regional brewers will be on hand pouring “tasting room exclusive offering” for the event, according to the news release. Copper Fox Distillery, Williamsburg Winery, and Silver Hand Meadery will also offer a selection of adult beverages, and non-alcoholic drinks will be available for purchase as well.

Food will be provided by the Amber Ox kitchen and other regional food purveyors.

Beer and food tickets will be available for $5, and each ticket is good for one item. Some larger meals and mixed beverages may cost two or three tickets. Cash and credit cards will be accepted.

Gates open at 1:45 p.m. and the first musical act, Skinner Box, goes live at 2. The Six takes the stage at 3:30 p.m., followed by DJ Jimmy Coe, and The Deloreans will play between 5 and 8 p.m.

Tickets are $15 in advance and $25 at the gate. General admission tickets are for those 21 and older, and they must present a valid ID. Admission includes one ticket for any of the day’s food and drink offerings and a souvenir Field Dayz glass.

Those between 13 and 20 years old can enter for $10, and those 12 and younger are free with adult supervision.

All guests are asked to bring one infant’s toy to donate to the CHKD. The toy must be in its original packaging.
