A new kitchen is moving into the former Monticello Shopping Center, bringing with it a taste of the Far East.
Bonanza Social Kitchen signed a lease Monday with landlord Broad Street Realty and will be moving into Midtown Row, said spokesman Brynn Jacoby.
Bonanza is an Asian and Pacific-influence food hall that is expected to open in spring 2019.
Guests can visit four different counters to try different specialty items, including a full service bar. Items might include Korean fried triple chicken, poke and Mai Tai’s.
“One of Broad Street’s key goals is to bring experiential retail to Midtown Row,” Jacoby said. “We see a movement in which people want more than just good food and service – they want to try new things, mix and match items, have more options, and ultimately customize their experience. Bonanza Social Kitchen will bring a unique dining experience to the Williamsburg market.”
The food hall will move into a 2,900-square-foot space between Great Clips and FedEx near the right end of the Monticello Shopping Center.
The Monticello and Williamsburg Shopping centers are being jointly redeveloped into the mixed-use Midtown Row. Once completed, four 5-story buildings will house ground-level retail beneath apartments. A total of 240 housing units will be split between the buildings.
Tenants are expected to move into the apartments by summer 2020.
