NEWPORT NEWS — Laura Davidson Krzeski, 61, passed away peacefully at her home in Newport News, VA on December 21, 2021. Laura loved deeply, with her family and her students as her focus. Her dedication to both was so apparent in everything she did.

She was born in Wilmington, Del., and grew up in Bedford, Va. She received her degree in Education from Ferrum College, where she also met her husband, Charlie. She moved to Newport News when she got married, making her home there and raising her family.

Laura loved teaching, and as an elementary school teacher made a lasting impact on all the children’s lives she touched. She taught in the Newport News Public School System for over 29 years and retired this year from Discovery STEM Academy. Most recently she was awarded Teacher of the Year, an honor she treasured.

Laura will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, teacher and friend. She was selfless in every possible way, always giving to others before herself. Laura had such a wonderful, funny and witty personality, and could always bring a smile to your face. Affectionately called “Mimi” by her grandchildren, her greatest joy was being a Grandmother. She loved fostering their imagination, whether cooking in their pretend kitchen or snuggling to read books together.

Laura is survived by her devoted husband of 38 years, Charlie; her children: Ashley Krzeski Wells (Akeem), and Tyler Krzeski; and her adored grandchildren: Tristin Wells and Layla Wells. She is also survived by her mother, Carolyn Joy Davidson and sisters, Lisa Harvel (Calvin) and Jennifer Moelchert. She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph M. Davidson, Jr.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Weymouth Funeral Home by Rev. David Willis of Olivet Christian Church. Masks are required. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Discovery STEM Academy, 1712 Chestnut Ave, Newport News, VA 23607, or the Peninsula SPCA, 523 J Clyde Morris Blvd, Newport News, VA 23601, peninsulaspca.org.
