Bring your bike out of hibernation this weekend

JAMES CITY COUNTY — Has your bike been collecting dust? Well, it’s time to bring it out of hibernation!

On Saturday, May 1, Williamsburg Area Bicyclists is asking you to pedal your way through the outdoors as part of the Bikes Out of Hibernation event.

Taking place from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., the event will be full of bike-friendly events. The Williamsburg Area Bicyclists will be offering:

  • Free safety inspections and minor adjustments
  • Free tire pumping
  • Free helmets and helmet fittings
  • Free safety bicycle briefings

Afterwards, the organization is inviting participants to take a spin along the Virginia Capital Trail in 2, 5, 10 and 15 mile “fun rides.”

The event is sponsored by James City County Parks & Recreation, Conte’s Bike Shop, Trek, and Jimmy’z Mobile Bike Repair.

Bikes Out of Hibernation will take place, weather dependent, on Saturday, May 1 from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Chickahominy Riverfront Park, 1350 John Tyler Hwy in Williamsburg.
