Holiday VDOT traffic advisory for I-64, HRBT, Jamestown Ferry

As the holidays descend on Hampton Roads, the Virginia Department of Transportation has lifted nearly all of its lane, street and ramp closures during the extended Christmas weekend.

Drivers planning to be out on Interstate 64 and some nearby streets will likely experience nightly delays when driving between Newport News and Williamsburg Dec. 26-28, as well as on the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel.

Crews contracted by the Virginia Department of Transportation will perform work on Segment II of the I-64 widening project.

In addition to the I-64 widening project closures, the Jamestown-Scotland Ferry will operate at a reduced capacity on Dec. 25. The ferry will depart on the hour from Surry County and on the half-hour from Jamestown.

A full list of scheduled closures is below.

Lane closures:

  • Alternating single-lane closures on I-64 east and west Dec. 26-28, as early as 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., starting near the Colonial Parkway to Lee Hall (Exit 247)
  • Single lane closures of the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel both eastbound and westbound on Dec. 26-28, as early as 9 p.m. to 5 p.m.
