A red fox found in York County has tested positive for rabies.
The fox was found in the 100 block of Terrance Circle in southern York County, according to a Peninsula Health District news release.
Anyone who had exposure to the fox — including bites, scratches, contact between saliva and opens wounds or exposure to family pets — is advised to contact the Health Department at Peninsula Health District at 757-594-7340.
After hours, contact York County Animal Control at 757-890-3601.
Health officials remind all citizens to vaccinate pets, report all exposures to wild animals, and enjoy wildlife from a distance.
