A York County family has likely been displaced after their garage caught on fire around 8 a.m. Wednesday morning, fire officials said.

York County Fire & Life Safety crews responded to a house in the 700 block of Queensbury Lane just after 8 a.m., after receiving a report about a structure fire, according to a Fire & Life Safety news release.

Fire crews arrived to find the two-story home’s attached garage engulfed in flames, the release said.

The home’s residents had left and were all accounted for.

The fire was brought under control in just under ten minutes with the help of the James City County Fire Department and Williamsburg Fire Department, the release said.

The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office also provided assistance at the scene.

There were no injuries to either residents or firefighters, the release said.

The home is not considered a total loss, but the garage and part of the home sustained significant damage, Fire Chief Steve Kopczynski said.

The Red Cross has been notified to assist the family, who is “likely” displaced due to the amount of damage at the home, Kopczynski said.

Units were still on scene at 10:15 a.m. conducting salvage and overhaul.

The cause and origin of the fire are still under investigation, the release said.
