Peninsula health officials seek dog after biting incident in James City County

virginia department of healthAuthorities are searching for a dog last seen in the Wellington subdivision of James City County after the dog bit a person last Saturday, according to a news release from the Peninsula Health District.

Incident took place in the vicinity of Guildford Lane during the evening hours, according to the release.

The canine has been described as roughly 40 pounds and black, white and brown in color. Officials believe the animal could be a beagle or mixed breed.

If the dog is not located, the victim may need treatment for the post-exposure prevention of rabies, health officials said.

When the animal is located it will be confined in its owner’s home for a period of ten days.
