Norfolk police have identified the man who died Saturday evening after he was hit by a car near Military Circle Mall as 65-year-old Allen C. Rand.
Around 6:30 p.m., Rand tried to cross the street at Frizzell Avenue, when he was hit by a car driving east on the 5800 block of Popular Hall Drive, according to a Norfolk Police Department news release. Police found Rand lying on the ground when they arrived, and he was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said they are investigating the accident.
