Police are investigating a bank robbery that occurred Wednesday morning at a Chesapeake Bank near Five Forks in James City County, according to James City County police.

Police believe an unidentified man entered the bank, located at 4492 John Tyler Highway, around 10:35 a.m. and displayed a handgun, demanding money from employees, James City County Police Department spokeswoman Stephanie Williams said.

The unidentified black man was wearing all black clothes, a long black wig, white gloves and a mask partially covering his face, police said.

The man fled on foot in an unknown direction with an undisclosed amount of cash, Williams said.

No customers were in the bank at the time of the robbery, Williams said, and there are no injuries resulting from the incident.

The bank was still considered an active crime scene at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday.
