Children should be pampered, too.
That’s the theme of Take 2 Children’s Spa, which will celebrate its grand opening Saturday in Pembroke Mall.
The space, located at 4550 Virginia Beach Blvd., offers birthday parties and nail and hair services. Children can get manicures, pedicures, facials and hairstyles including braids, curls, cornrows and more. Prices range from from about $10 to $30.
“Some kids come in after a long day of practice, and we do their hair and makeup, it creates almost a fantasy for them,” owner D’Shara Diggs said in a phone interview.
The business launched in February and was located in a converted dentist’s office in Chesapeake. But the 500 square-foot space quickly became too small, according to the owner. The spot in Pembroke Mall is about 1,900 square feet.
Diggs began the spa with just two employees, but has added four more since its opening. Her customers include members of her church, Shekinah Kingdom Church in Virginia Beach, and spouses of military service members, who bring their children in to have a fun day.
Some of her church customers know of Diggs from the free services she has offered to parents who can’t afford a birthday party. She will continue to offer her services to parents in the community who can’t afford birthday parties, she said.
Saturday’s grand opening will feature a performance at noon from Encore Dance Center in Virginia Beach, face painting and a birthday party giveaway. Birthday parties range in price from $150 to $500.
