A Portsmouth man has been charged with the murder of an 18-year-old whose body was found Friday morning on Crawford Road in York County.
Julian Rios, 20, was arrested by York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office investigators Saturday morning without incident in the 3200 block of Western Branch Blvd in Chesapeake.
Rios has been charged with murder and the use of a firearm while in the commission of a felony, according to a news release on the YPSO Facebook page.
“Sheriff Diggs would like to express his gratitude to all of his investigators, who have been working around the clock, non stop to catch this killer,” the news release states.
Around midnight July 1, YPSO deputies were dispatched to Crawford Road after a passerby reported what they believed to be a body on the side of the road.
Deputies and medics located the body of an 18-year-old white male near the Tour Road overpass in the vicinity of Yorktown Battlefield at Colonial National Historical Park.
The victim, Austin G. Baxley of Portsmouth, was pronounced dead on the scene. The cause of death appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds.
This is an ongoing investigation and additional charges may be pending, according to the YPSO news release.
