W&M custodian charged with sexual battery

A custodial worker at the College of William & Mary has been charged with misdemeanor sexual battery after an alleged assault took place on campus.

On June 22, a temporary employee reported an assault had occurred June 15 on campus, according to William & Mary Police.

Bruce Bartlett of Williamsburg, a custodial worker with facilities management, was arrested June 25 by James City County Police.

He has no criminal record in Williamsburg, with the exception of two speeding tickets that he paid in 2012 and 2014, respectively.

Bartlett will have a hearing at 8:30 a.m. July 5 in Williamsburg-James City County General District Court.
