VIRGINIA BEACH — Crews have finished building the foundations, footings and piers of the new westbound Lesner Bridge.
They expect to complete the superstructure in the fall, allowing traffic to cross Lynnhaven Inlet over the new bridge in September or October.
The construction update came in the city manger’s weekly newsletter.
The final precast concrete segment for the westbound half was set last week, and crews plan to fill in a remaining 2-foot wide gap in the bridge soon. Doing so will complete the most challenging construction phase, according to the update.
