Anderson’s Home and Garden Showplace in Virginia Beach is unofficially opening this Saturday.
The store will run an outdoor market in its parking lot every day until the 35,000-square-foot retail building opens, which will hopefully be mid-May, according to owner Jason Blanchette.
The outdoor garden market at 1925 Fisher Arch, near Princess Anne and Sandbridge roads, will open at 8 a.m. Saturday and offer entrees from the health food restaurant Paleo-to-Go and a coffee bar. The outdoor shop will sell plants, trees, soil, tools, outdoor furniture and more.
“We want to get the residents over here,” Blanchette said. “They’ve been clamoring to get over here and for us to open. This will be a little taste of what they will have to look forward to when we actually open the building.”
The outdoor market will cease when the building opens, since the store will require the entire parking lot to accommodate customers. Until then it will offer 80 percent of the items the store will feature, Blanchette said. Hours will run 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays.
“Super excited to open this thing up. It’s been a long time coming,” Blanchette said. “Even though the building is not ready, we’re certainly ready for the spring season.”
