It was another dominant week from First Colonial, which has scored 24 goals in its last three shutout wins. The undefeated Patriots, led by a skilled sophomore trio, will face one of their tougher tests of the season Friday at home against Grassfield.

Landstown’s defense is starting to show last year’s form with three consecutive shutouts victories after an 0-2 start. A home tilt Tuesday against Salem and a match Friday at Princess Anne awaits an emerging Eagles club.

Tallwood enjoyed a week off but will be challenged Wednesday in its first game back against Norfolk Academy. The Lions’ offense (six goals per game) will have to crack a Bulldogs defense that has shut out four teams in its last six games.

Kellam has quietly won three consecutive games in shutout fashion while getting offensive production from underclassmen. The Knights seem poised to extend their winning streak in games this week against Green Run and Kempsville.

Cox’s first win of the season, a statement performance against previously undefeated Grassfield, showed how dangerous the defending 6A South champs will be. The Falcons followed with a 6-1 drubbing of Salem. All of their four losses are by one goal against quality opponents.

Records as of Monday, April 18.

  1. First Colonial (7-0)
  2. Landstown (3-2)
  3. Tallwood (5-1)
  4. Kellam (3-1-1)
  5. Cox (2-4)

On the bubble: Ocean Lakes (5-3),  Princess Anne (4-2)
