Welcome to Southside Daily’s inaugural rankings of the best high school boys soccer teams in Virginia Beach. Sports reporter Joe Saade will

list his top five each week based on his coverage of the local prep scene.
Rundown
First Colonial has outscored opponents 26-2 in a 4-0 start, thanks to the unsurprisingly strong performances from arguably the Beach’s top attack duo in seniors Ian Roberts (five goals) and Jaylen Thompson (four goals).
Ocean Lakes has shutout its last five opponents, including Friday’s win over Princess Anne, and boasts 20 goals in six wins. Dolphins midfielder Jack Monroe has played like one of the area’s best at his position.
Cox has posted three shutouts in four wins and has shown to be offensively adept early, outscoring opponents 14-1 in its victories.
Discounting its 2-1 loss to Jamestown, Landstown has outscored opponents 19-0 in three wins.
Princess Anne’s defense is off to a slower than expected start, having allowed eight goals in four games after posting 16 shutouts and letting in just 11 goals in 21 games last year.
- First Colonial (4-0)
- Ocean Lakes (6-0)
- Cox (4-1)
- Landstown (3-1)
- Princess Anne (1-3) / Kellam (3-0-1)
