Virginia Beach Public Schools dismissed early Friday because of the weather. All after-school games were cancelled as well.

Other closings announced by the city:
- Swim lessons at Seatack and Williams Farm Community Recreation Centers are cancelled for tonight. High School diving at Bayside Recreation Center and Youth Swim League at Great Neck Recreation Center are cancelled as well.
- The Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center has cancelled the Sea Adventure whales & wildlife trips for Saturday and Sunday due to anticipated high winds.
- Parks & Recreation’s Sports Management/City-Wide Athletics has cancelled all youth and adult practices, and games held at Virginia Beach City Public Schools for today.
- All Parks & Recreation after-school and evening activities and athletic competitions in the schools are cancelled today.
- General District and Juvenile & Domestic Relations Court and Clerk’s Offices closed at noon.
- The Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney closed at noon.
