A group of volunteer dental professionals will stand ready Saturday to offer free fillings, extractions and cleanings to adults who otherwise could not afford those services.
Norge Dental Center’s fourth annual Dentistry From the Heart lasts all day. Dentistry From the Heart is also the name of a national nonprofit which encourages dentistry services across the country to participate in the day of giving.
The national nonprofit has provided free dental care to more than 25,000 patients since its creation in 2001, according to its Facebook page.
At last year’s event, Norge Dental Center provided 261 people with free dental care, with patients coming from Louisa County to Moyock, N.C, a post on the center’s website said. A total of $100,552 worth of dentistry was provided.
The event is first come, first served. Norge Dental Center will offer one extraction, one filling or one cleaning for each patient.
Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. Saturday at the office, located at 7450 Richmond Road. The center is encouraging patients to arrive early and bring warm clothes, blankets, water and snacks, as they be waiting outside to be seen.
