
Chesapeake Bank has named a new vice president and promoted another.
Catherine “Kate” J. Root has joined Chesapeake Payment Systems, Chesapeake Bank’s merchant services division, as vice president and managing director.
Coming to the area from Pennsylvania, Root has 18 years of experience in the field.
“We are delighted to have Kate on board,” Jeffrey M. Szyperski, Chesapeake Bank chief executive officer, in a news release. “Her expertise in the payments arena is both broad and deep and will be a great addition to our CPS team.”
Sam Poole, who has worked in the financial services industry more than 16 years, will become assistant vice president and greater Williamsburg retail regional manager.
“Sam’s experience in banking, branch management and his excellent customer service skills have been a great asset to us at our Lightfoot office, and our customer service throughout Williamsburg will be enhanced under his leadership,” said Marshall Warner, executive vice president and Williamsburg regional executive, in a news release.
Poole is a 2013 graduate of the LEAD Historic Triangle program sponsored by the Greater Williamsburg Chamber & Tourism Alliance, and is involved with the United Way of Greater Williamsburg and R.F. Wilkinson YMCA Board of Directors.
