Music and Movies
A Richmond group will play live tunes at 8:30 p.m. Friday at Daddy O’s Tavern. Weeping Molly performs rock ‘n’ roll, blues and soul music, featuring Elana Lisa on vocals.
Williamsburg Regional Library will host a movie and jewelry program Saturday for teenagers. At 1 p.m., there will be a screening of “The Prestige,” open to ages 13 and older, followed by a make-and-take steampunk-inspired jewelry session from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. for ages 13 to 19. Space is limited for the crafting portion, and those interested in attending can reserve a spot by calling 259-4050.
Learn Something New
Feather Foster will be at the William & Mary Bookstore this weekend signing copies of her book, “First Ladies: From Martha Washington to Mamie Eisenhower, An Intimate Portrait of the Women Who Shaped America.” The nonfiction piece studies the roles of 26 of the country’s First Ladies. Foster will be signing copies and greeting guests from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
“Getting Started in Beekeeping” will let attendees learn the basics and see whether beekeeping might be right for them. The free talk starts at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Tabb Public Library.
Open Houses
Learn more about the King of Glory Preschool at an event at 7 p.m. Thursday. The church will open its doors for tours of the program and the chance to learn more about the new full day and full year preschool. King of Glory is also holding a Lunch and Learn open house at noon Friday, for more on the school for the 2015-2016 year.
Hampton Roads Academy will welcome guests from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday. There will be an opportunity to find out more about enrollment, now open, for pre-kindergarten through 12th grade.
Shopping
The Toano Farmers Market runs year-round, featuring meat, eggs, produce and other goods. It starts at 8 a.m. Saturday at the corner of Forge and Richmond Roads in Toano.
