A local financial institution has contributed to athletic programs at the College of William & Mary.

On Dec. 19, C&F Bank gave a donation to the school’s athletic department. The $3,732.17 total is the fruit of a Tribe CD promotion held by the bank.

In addition, the board of directors of C&F Financial Corporation announced the promotion of Thomas F. Cherry to president of the corporation and bank. He will continue his duties as chief financial officer until a successor is named, while Board Chairman Larry Dillon will continue in that role and as chief executive officer.

“I am confident that Tom Cherry is the right person to assume the role as C&F’s President. … Our relationship throughout his career here has been exceptional,” said Dillon in a news release. “From a communications and trust standpoint, I couldn’t have asked for a better relationship, and Tom and I will continue to work together over the next several years to lead C&F into the future.”

Cherry has 18 years of experience with C&F, serving in multiple positions with the institution.

“I am honored to become just the fourth president in C&F Bank’s 87-year history,” he said in the release.
