Young musicians have a chance to vie for financial assistance to pursue their art through the Williamsburg Music Club.
Applications are open now for the club’s Grants-in-Aid program for keyboardists, strings and winds players, percussionists and singers.
Scholarships are available for residents of the City of Williamsburg, James City or York counties, along with those who go to school there, study with teachers in the area or who are members of the Williamsburg Youth Orchestra.
Musicians can enter in the junior division, for those in fifth through eighth grade, or the senior division for high-schoolers up to and including age 19.
Complete applications, which are available online, are due by Jan. 18 with a $20 application fee. Those who are selected by a committee will be notified by Feb. 1 and compete at a live audition.
The audition will be held March 14 at Ewell Hall on the College of William & Mary.
Judges will award a first and second prize in each division, as well as prizes in each instrument category at their discretion.
