On Stage

Apple Theatre Company will present American Voices, a celebration of America in word and song, at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Williamsburg Regional Library. The show includes music, dance, poetry, speeches, storytelling and comedy. Donations are welcome, with proceeds benefitting the USO.

Lyric Opera Virginia will present its final showcase of The Williamsburg Children’s Opera and Musical Theater Camp at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Williamsburg Community Action Agency. The program will include the 28 children performing scenes from La Bohème, Carmen, The Sound of Music, The Wizard of Oz, Ragtime, Frozen and Rent. Tickets are $5 at the door. Tap your toes to bluegrass at a concert Saturday evening at the Kimball Theatre. Presented by the James City County Rotary Club, Code Blue is a high-energy bluegrass band. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. and benefits Rotary charities.

Learn Something

Explore your ancestry at the Third Thursday Family History Brown Bag, on at 2017 Newman Road. Starting at noon, the meeting will have a presentation by Joe Sell, from the Ford’s Colony Genealogy Club, on how to explore genealogy using RootsMagic with FamilySearch Family Tree.

As part of the Learn and Grow Series, Art Gustafson will present a talk on composting Saturday morning. At 10 a.m. at Freedom Park Interpretive Center, the talk will show how to turn kitchen scraps into rich compost to feed garden plants.

Adventure is Out There

Thursday Adventure Nights provides activities for adults ages 18 to 35, every week at various locations throughout town. This week’s outdoor games will be at Mid County Park at 7 p.m., with participants meeting at the Martin’s on Monticello Avenue for dinner beforehand.
