Scouts Attend Camporee, Clean Up Community

Boy Scout Troop 103 from Williamsburg recently attended the 52nd annual West Point Camporee at Lake Frederick, N.Y.
For 52 years, the Cadet Scoutmasters’ Council – made up of cadets with a background in Boy or Girl Scouts – at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point hosts a camporee for a weekend of adventure. About 6,000 scouts from more than 200 different Boy and Girl Scout troops attend the annual event.
Troop 103 also put together a “super squad” of older Scouts that completed all of the graded Camporee events and came in fifth place overall.
The trip was sponsored by Troop 103 Eagle Scout Bobby Davis, a current cadet at the West Point Military Academy and the Troop’s committee in celebration of the Troop’s 90th anniversary this year.

Back in Williamsburg, 23 members of younger Cub Scout Pack 103 picked up little along Bypass Road, as part of the the Great American Cleanup that occurs in the weeks around Earth Day. The City of Williamsburg sponsors the program, and crews from Public Works assisted the Cub Scouts to maintain traffic control and provide safe working conditions.
The service project cleaned up more than half a mile of roadway along the major entry corridor to Colonial Williamsburg.
