The Campus Kitchen at William & Mary is asking the public for help in turning dollars into dough.
An affiliate of The Campus Kitchens Project, a national organization, they are competing in the Raise the Dough Challenge, which pits 19 area kitchens in a race to fundraise. From last Friday through the end of this week, the team that collects the most money will earn a $1,000 prize.
W&M’s student-run group works to meet hunger and nutrition needs through the diligence of volunteers. By collecting food from the community, preparing it in donated space and delivering it to clients in subsidized housing complexes, the Campus Kitchen serves 200 members of the Williamsburg community every week.
In addition to food-related efforts, students involved with The Campus Kitchen spend time two afternoons each week with children in low-income neighborhoods. They take the time to play games, tutor and serve as mentors for youth ages 4 to 16.

As of Monday evening, the team from W&M was ranked at a close third on the leaderboard of top fundraisers.
