Bring a toy, enjoy a pint. The Tap Takeover Toy Drive at DoG Street Pub is Wednesday.
The pub has partnered with Alewerks Brewing Company to present the first annual event, which will be held from 5 to 9 p.m.
Every guest who brings a new, unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots will receive a free pint glass from Alewerks.
The U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program collects toys during the fall and winter months, and distributes them as Christmas gifts to local children. The program aims to bring a message of hope to those less fortunate, uniting communities in a cause to better the future.
DoG Street Pub will fill pint glasses for donors at a discount. They will also have food specials — like an ALE(with the)WERKS burger — available for $5.
For beer lovers, the pub will be tapping rare and aged beers, one of which has never been tasted in the Hampton Roads area. Also on tap are four different vintages of Grand Illumination barleywine from 2010 to 2013.
