Mary Montague Sikes brings the zoo to Prince George Art & Frame. Her exhibition, Animal Alphabet, opens Friday at the gallery.
The series of paintings, of both cuddly and fierce creatures, includes one animal for each of the 26 letters of the alphabet. Animal Alphabet will be on display through Nov. 30.
Animals have inspired Sikes’ work for many years.
“This show will demonstrate Sikes affection for animals as well as her discipline in connecting each animal with a letter in the alphabet,” said gallery owner Fred Miller in a news release Oct. 25.
Prince George Art & Frame will hold an opening reception from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday. The public is invited to enjoy refreshments, and Sikes will be available to discuss her work.
Sikes will also be in the gallery from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday to demonstrate her painting techniques.
