Hometown: Swing by sweetFrog to Help Feed Hungry Kids

sweetFrog LogoGather up some food to donate and drop by a sweetFrog location between Monday and Sept. 22 to both help hungry kids and get your chance to enter a contest to win 100 free 12 oz. cups of yogurt.

The charity drive, sponsored by sweetFrog, is part of a celebration of the 300th store opening for the frozen yogurt purveyor. The goal is to help connect up to 300,000 meals to hungry kids by participating in Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry Campaign. To do this, the store is collecting donations. You can also make donations online, by visiting sweetFrog’s website.

In addition, local stores — including the ones in Yorktown and Williamsburg — will collect canned and non-perishable food items to donate to the Food Bank of the Virginia Peninsula.

To get your chance to win the free yogurt in the national contest, be one of the first 300 people at either of the Historic Triangle locations Sunday.

“We are a young company, and this is our first undertaking to harness the philanthropic power of our network of stores throughout the country,” sweetFrog founder Derek Cha said in a release. “We are confident that our part in this national program will make a meaningful difference in the lives of many, many children.”

SweetFrog was founded in Richmond in 2009. The company now has 300 stores across the U.S., Great Britain and the Caribbean.
