Hometown: Get an Up-Close Taste of the Virginia Symphony at Upcoming Fundraiser

VSOMeet the musicians of the Virginia Symphony Orchestra during its annual “VSO Unplugged” fundraiser on Aug. 23.

The fundraiser is an intimate cabaret-style event that will feature performances by violinist Michael Ludwig, VSO Principal Oboe Sherie Aguirre and vocalist Amanda Batcher that will also give guests a chance to mingle with the musicians. A silent auction will take place over the course of the evening, too, featuring fine wines, vacation packages and one-of-a-kind VSO experiences.

All proceeds from the event will support the VSO’s mission to inspire, educate and connect audiences of all ages.

Founded in 1920, the VSO is ranked in the top ten percent of professional orchestras nationwide and serves the entire Southeastern Virginia region with Classics, Pops and Family concert series in Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Newport News and Williamsburg as well as performances in outlying Virginia and North Carolina communities, reaching more than 200,000 concert-goers every year.  Additionally, the orchestra annually reaches 63,000 children, students and lifelong learners with its education and community programs.

“VSO Unplugged” will take place starting at 7 p.m. at the Williamsburg Winery’s Wessex Hall. Tickets are $125 for VIP table seating and $65 for general admission.  Price includes performance, heavy hors d’oeuvres and wine. Get more information from the VSO website.
