Several local organizations are jointly presenting two classes for family caregivers in April.
The classes are a collaborative project of the Senior Services Coalition, Riverside Center for Excellence in Aging, Comfort Keepers, Colonial Heritage Community Foundation, and Thomas Nelson Community College, and they will help answer questions that families encounter when caring for a loved one at home.
The class will address issues including how to make a home safer and more comfortable, how to keep track of medications, how to move someone from a bed/chair to a wheelchair properly, psychological needs and where to turn for help.
Both courses will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 20 and 27 at Thomas Nelson Community College’s Allied Health Lab in Room 307. The cost for the classes is $35 for both sessions, which includes an American Red Cross workbook and DVD as well as supplies and lunch.
Seating is limited, so those interested must register by April 10 by calling 258-6591.
