William & Mary’s Swem Library staff spent the first day of spring break serving the community.
On Monday, March 4 two dozen staff members served at four local non-profit organizations. Swem staff members Paul Showalter, Steven Hild, Karen Berquist and Jennie Davy spent the morning volunteering at Mattey’s Garden, a learning space at Matthew Whaley Elementary School where students can experience hands-on biology and botany concepts.
Other staff members volunteered at Heritage Humane Society, Habitat ReStore and Hands Together Historic Triangle.
“Swem Service Day served as a way for staff to spend time together and give back to the community. It was also great fun for those who participated,” said William & Mary’s Dean of University Libraries Carrie Cooper.
