Colonial CASA recently celebrated the swearing-in of its volunteers for 2013.
Juvenile and Domestic Relations Honorable Judge George C. Fairbanks IV led the swearing-in event for this year’s volunteers.
The volunteers will serve as a voice for abused and neglected children in the juvenile justice system; they will provide advocacy services within the courts and communities to ensure the safe future of children.
According to the Colonial CASA website: “over 200 children are victims of child abuse and neglect in the Historic Triangle each year, and half of these children are under the age of 7. Each day they face uncertainty and trauma, their lives a sea of ever-changing professionals who, although well-meaning, are nonetheless strangers – police, social workers, foster parents, therapists, judges, lawyers and many others.
“This is where CASA steps in. For more than 100 of these children each year, there is one person consistently there for them, one person whose reassuring presence and focus does not change: their volunteer CASA.”
