The Farley Center at Williamsburg Place is hosting a professional lecture on wilderness therapy on Feb. 22.
Thomas Ahern and Dr. Melanie Weis will give the presentation, called “A Primer in Wilderness Therapy,” to help teach participants how to use this process for treating chemical dependency and for behavioral health treatment for young people. Participants will also explore wilderness therapy’s effectiveness.
Ahern is a former school psychologist and public school administrator who now works as the Director of Clinical Outreach for Aspen Education Group. Weiss is a professional counselor and addiction specialist in North Carolina.
The workshop will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Feb. 22 at the Pavilion at Williamsburg Place. There will be a networking period from 8:30 to 9 a.m. Visit the Farley Center website to learn more about the class or to register.
