Hometown: SSC Hosts Talk on Better Care for Seniors

Dr. Kyle Allen will give a talk on creating a community system of care for older adults at the Senior Services Coalition quarterly meeting this month.

In his presentation, called “It Takes a Village: Innovative Approaches to Integrate a Community System of Care for Older Adults,” Allen will discuss the kind of collaborations that are necessary to meet the needs of an aging population.

Allen is the vice president for Clinical Integration and the medical director for Geriatric Medicine and Life Long Health with the Riverside Health System. He believes in innovation and collaboration between the medical community and community service providers to coordinate a comprehensive approach to chronic disease and elder care, according to a press release about the event.

Allen helped to establish the Institute for Senior and Post Acute Care in Akron, Ohio. The Institute is now recognized as a template for excellent, integrated geriatric care.

The Senior Services Coalition will host Allen at 2 p.m. on Feb. 14 at the Williamsburg United Methodist Church on Jamestown Road. Call the Coalition at 220-3480 with questions.
