Colonial Williamsburg is holding an event for youth between the ages of 11 and 18 who are interested in becoming junior interpreters.
The Foundation will hold its junior interpreter volunteer expo from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26, at the Bruton Heights School Education Center.
The expo will feature CW’s year-round youth volunteer opportunities for residents of Williamsburg, James City County and the Bruton District of York County. Opportunities for junior interpreters include positions with the Wythe House, Great Hopes Plantation, Historic Farming, the Powell House and the dance program; only a few programs are open to kids who are 11 years old.
Representatives will be on hand to answer questions. Youth who are interested can pick up applications at the expo, and will need to turn these in by Jan. 30. Kids who are selected will need to attend mandatory training sessions in April and May, and a parent or guardian will need to attend one session in April.
Colonial Williamsburg provides about 900 volunteers with opportunities in public contact and behind-the-scenes positions. For more information about volunteer opportunities, contact the Office of Volunteer Programs at (757) 220-7181.
