The Planning Commission will meet this week to discuss a request for an addition at an assisted living facility. Next weekend, celebrate Waller Mill Park at Wallerpalooza, a family-friendly festival.
Planning Commission to Review SUP Request for Assisted Living
The Planning Commission will review a request for a special use permit to build an addition at Spring Arbor of Williamsburg Assisted Living.
Spring Arbor, located at 935 Capitol Landing Road, wants to put an addition on the right rear wing to accommodate a maximum of 28 special care residents with dementia, as well as Alzheimer’s. The change will change the footprint of the building, but meets all applicable zoning requirements, according to a memorandum from Planning Director Reed Nester. The total number of beds (92) would not increase.
Staff recommends approval of the request. The meeting will begin at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Stryker Building.
City Hosts Second Wallerpalooza
The city of Williamsburg will host its second Wallerpalooza, a fall-theme festival at Waller Mill Park, on Oct. 20.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., there will be children’s crafts, activities, face painting, balloon animals and games for all ages. Attendees who bring old shirts can learn how to turn them into trick-or-treat bags.
Waller Mill charges a $5 vehicle entrance charge. It’s located on Airport Road between I-64 and Route 60 West. The park has 2,705 acres surrounding a reservoir.
