
MARICOPA, Ariz. — William & Mary men’s golf closed the book on its season Sunday by tying a program record with a 21-under-par total at the Golfweek National Golf Invitational at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club.
The Tribe finished sixth in the 10-team postseason field with a 54-hole score of 843, matching the school record set at the 2022 VCU Shootout. Grand Canyon University won the tournament with a 52-under 812, finishing 14 strokes ahead of the field.
Freshman Talon Dingledine continued his standout season by leading the Tribe with an 8-under 208, tying for ninth place individually. Dingledine shot a 2-under 70 on Sunday with five birdies, earning his school-record-tying eighth top-10 finish of the season. He also recorded his 17th round of par or better this year, setting another program record.
Junior Preston Burton carded a 1-under 71 in the final round to finish tied for 27th at 2-under 214. Burton’s 15th round of par or better this season ranks second in school history.
Graduate student Matthew Monastero closed out his collegiate career with a career-best 6-under 210, finishing tied for 18th after shooting a 1-over 73 on Sunday. His tournament total ranks 10th in program history.
Sophomore Grady Williams shot a 3-over 75 in the final round to finish tied for 40th at 218, while freshman Eli Felty finished tied for 35th at even-par 216 after carding a 7-over 79 on Sunday.
William & Mary wrapped up the season with a 289.72 team stroke average, nearly three strokes better than the previous school-record mark set during the 2022-23 campaign.
