WILLIAMSBURG — William & Mary standout wide receiver Matthew Akuchie earned a rookie minicamp invite with the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.
Akuchie and offensive lineman Charles Grant, who was selected by the Las Vegas Raiders with the 99th overall pick in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft, will join an impressive list of former Tribe standouts who are currently on NFL rosters – Nate Lynn (Lions), Bill Murray (Bears), Luke Rhodes (Colts), Sorsdal (Lions) and Owen Wright (Ravens).
Akuchie saw action in all 12 games last season and earned a start. Highlighting his senior campaign was an impressive effort in the win against Bryant when he posted a touchdown catch and totaled a pair of receptions for 35 yards.
Prior to joining the Tribe in 2024, the Fort Lauderdale, Fla., native spent multiple seasons at Florida Atlantic (2019-20) and Towson (2021-23), appearing in 18 games with the Tigers.
An outstanding student, Akuchie was selected to the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame (NFF) 2025 Hampshire Honor Society and CAA Commissioners Academic Honor Roll.
