RICHMOND — After helping lead the William & Mary lacrosse team to a pair of road victories at High Point and Longwood, freshman midfielder Alexis Savage was selected as the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Rookie of the Week.
Savage finished the week with four goals, coming on just four shots, and came up especially big in the 18-17 victory at High Point. In addition to scoring the game-winner with 4:32 remaining, she posted her first career hat trick and recorded a ground ball.
The St. James, N.Y., native also found the back of the cage with her only shot attempt in the Tribe’s 16-8 win at Longwood.
Savage has made an immediate impact early in her freshman season, totaling six goals, on six shots, with a ground ball.
The Tribe will return to action when it opens its conference slate at Drexel on Friday at 1 p.m.
