RICHMOND — William & Mary field hockey senior Pyper Friedman was named to the All-CAA First Team, the league announced on Thursday.
Friedman started all 17 matches for the Tribe this season, totaling five points on two goals and an assist. Her lone assist came on the game-winner in W&M’s 2-1 win over Delaware on Oct. 11. She scored goals in the Tribe’s rivalries with Richmond and Old Dominion.
Friedman is the 12th player in W&M history, and fifth under head coach Tess Ellis, to be named to the All-CAA First Team on multiple occasions. She joined a list that includes Cristina Limpens (1992, 1993, 1994), Vicky Saunders (1996, 1997), Amy Vecsi (1998, 1999), Kathy DeJong (1998, 1999, 2000), Jessica Jiao (2000, 2001), Claire Miller (2002, 2003), Anna Davis (2004, 2005), Wesley Drew (2008, 2009), Pippin Saunders (2013, 2014, 2015), Cammie Lloyd (2016, 2017), Christie van de Kamp (2018, 2019), and Cara Menges (2020, 2021).
A Preseason All-CAA selection, Friedman was named a Third Team NFHCA All-American in 2023. She was also named to the NFHCA All-South Region First Team as a junior. Friedman finished her career ranked 12th in W&M history with 69 starts and 14th in assists with 15. She also tallied 13 goals and 41 points in her 71 career games.
