
RICHMOND — William & Mary sophomore Hayes Trapp was named the CAA Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week on Tuesday, the league announced.
Trapp, an All-CAA performer a season ago, led the Tribe to the ECU Pirate XC Invitational team title on Friday. He covered the 8K course in 23:45.8 to finish third among a field of 215 runners.
The Tribe edged Southeast Region No. 14 George Mason, 82-84, to win the team championship in a 21-team field. W&M also finished ahead of five CAA rivals in Elon (11th at 346), Campbell (17th at 489), Charleston (18th at 508), Hampton (20th at 621), and UNCW (21st at 647).
On Monday, the Tribe earned a season-high No. 12 ranking in the USTFCCCA Southeast Region poll. W&M topped not only No. 14 George Mason at the Pirate XC Invitational, but also No. 15 Charleston Southern.
The Green and Gold returns to action at the Panorama Farms XC Invitational in Charlottesville, Va., on Saturday, Oct. 19.
