Lionsbridge Moves Into Sole Possession of First Place with 2-1 Win Over Patuxent

NEWPORT NEWS — Lionsbridge FC secured a 2-1 victory over Patuxent FA on Saturday night at TowneBank Stadium, improving to 9-1-2 overall and 6-1-1 in the Chesapeake Division.

The win puts Lionsbridge FC alone at the top of the Chesapeake Division standings with 19 points from 8 games, ahead of Virginia Beach with 16 points from 7 games and Charlottesville Blues with 16 points from 8 games.

Sam Hall opened the scoring in the 24th minute with a penalty, marking his second goal of the season. Christian Hatley doubled the lead just before halftime in the 45th minute, assisted by Denis Krioutchenkov. The goal was Hatley’s third of the season. Patuxent FA pulled one back in the 69th minute but could not find an equalizer.

Hall’s penalty was his 17th career goal for Lionsbridge, tying him with Travis Cooke (2018-2020) for the second-most goals in club history across all competitions.

The match was part of Lionsbridge FC’s annual Kick Out Hunger night. Fans donated money, food items, and purchased 50/50 raffle tickets to support the Peninsula Foodbank. The night generated 8,650 meals for area residents in need.

Lionsbridge steps out of USL League Two play on Wednesday with a game at the Richmond Kickers of the professional league, USL League One. The next home game is Saturday, June 29, against Ole Sporting FC.
