(Tribe Athletics)

RICHMOND — William & Mary graduate student Mila Mejic was named the CAA Player of the Week on Tuesday afternoon after helping the Tribe to a weekend sweep of league opponents Elon and Campbell.

Mejic became the third different W&M student-athlete to earn player of the week honors this season, joining graduate student Yu Chen and junior Hedda Gurholt. She went 2-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles over the weekend.

Mejic won in straight sets at the No. 3 position in victories over Elon and Campbell. She was the first player off the court in a 6-1, 7-6 (2) victory over Elon’s Mariana Reding on Saturday, before dropping just two games in topping Tamsin Hart of Campbell, 6-2, 6-0, a day later. Mejic ran her win streak to nine matches, improved to 15-9 overall and remained undefeated in CAA play with the victories.

In doubles, Mejic teamed with freshman Francesca Davis to go 2-0 at the No. 3 position, lifting the Tribe to initial point of the match in both contests. The pair is 5-0 on the year.

Mejic and the Tribe wrap up the regular season with a road trip to Richmond on Saturday, April 20, at 2 p.m.
